Hi, I'm Alana. I created Life in Voices because I wanted to capture my father’s life and share it with my son—and future grandchildren. My sister gifted Dad a book of questions to help him reflect on his experiences, but getting him to relax enough to write down his stories was nearly impossible.

He’s lived such an interesting life, and though we've had countless conversations over the years, I still struggled to remember all the details. My dad does a lot of driving, and one day I thought, “What if he could tell us a story during one of his drives?”

That’s when the idea for Life in Voices was born. The more I thought about it, the more I remembered my partner telling me, “I wish I had been older when my granddad was still alive, so I could’ve asked him the questions I long to ask now.” But at the time, he was busy being young—surfing, traveling, living life. Now, as an adult, he wishes he had more time with him.

I hope that, by recording their voices, we can help the younger generation get to know their loved ones better, preserving stories and memories that might otherwise be lost.
